Extradition hearing set for Granville man charged in Vermont triple homicide

An extradition hearing will be held on Thursday for the Granville man charged in a triple homicide in Vermont.

Brian Crossman Jr., 22, is accused of killing his father 46-year-old Brian Crossman Sr.; his stepmother, 41-year-old Erica (Pawlusiak) Crossman; and his 13-year-old stepbrother Colin Taft. The murders took place early on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 15 at the family home on Vermont Route 133, Vermont State Police said.

Crossman Jr. was arrested after investigators said they obtained significant evidence including his statements, physical evidence such as Crossman’s bloody clothes, his digital footprint including location of his cell phone and physical evidence at the scene.

Crossman Jr. lives in Granville and is the stepson of former Granville Police Chief Ernie Bassett.

The hearing will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Warren County Court.

Hewitt-Crossman worked at Green Mountain Power for 20 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to her flowers, according to her obituary. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Poultney Legion, 689 Granville Street in Poultney, Vermont.

Colin Taft also enjoyed fishing and hunting, going to the racetrack and working on a car with his father, according to his obituary. Calling hours will be held at Davis Memorial Chapel on Friday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. A burial service will take place Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield.

A memorial service for Brian Crossman Sr. will be held on Friday, Sept. 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will at Ducharme Funeral Home in Castleton.
