Fahy, Romero poised to make history in Senate, Assembly

Two Albany women will be making history.

Assemblywoman Pat Fahy, a Democrat, will be the first woman to represent the 44th Senate District. With two-thirds of the precincts reporting, Fahy has 62% of the vote compared with Republican businessman Ted Danz.

Fahy would take over for longtime Sen. Neil Breslin, who is retiring.

Replacing Fahy in the 109th Assembly District seat will be Democrat Gabriella Romero. She beat Republican Alicia Purdy.

Romero, who represents the Sixth Ward on the Albany City Council, will be the first Latina to represent that district, which represents portions of Albany, Guilderland and New Scotland.
