Girl, 14, killed in Waterford crash

There was a serious motor vehicle accident in Waterford Saturday night, investigators said. One person died and another person was hurt.

NewsChannel 13 has learned that there was a serious motor vehicle accident in Waterford Saturday night, leaving one person dead and another injured.

Waterford PD tells us that the accident happened around 8:44 p.m. in the area of 95 Fonda Road.

One occupant, a 14-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old male, was taken to Albany Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the 18-year-old driver, Everhett R. Hatlee, of Troy, was impaired by marijuana and was arrested on multiple offenses.

Hatlee was charged with the following:

  • First-degree vehicular manslaughter
  • Second-degree vehicular manslaughter
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Aggravated DWI with a child less than 16 years of age
  • Operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs
  • Reckless driving
  • Multiple traffic infractions

Waterford Police say Hatlee was processed at Waterford Police Department, arraigned, and taken to the Saratoga County Jail.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
