Deadly crash under investigation

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident. Police say 2 cars were involved.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kingsbury Saturday afternoon for a motor vehicle accident that left one person dead.

Authorities said it happened on State Route 4, south of Kingsbury Road, after 1 p.m. Saturday.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Rhonda A. Sexton, 50, of Fort Ann was driving a GMC Sierra, when she crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck a Nissan Rogue being operated by Keri L. Pike, 48, of South Glens Falls, said the Sheriff’s Office.

Police said Sexton was taken to Glens Falls Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Pike was also taken to Glens Falls Hospital, where she passed away from her injuries sustained in the accident, said officials.

Police said State Route 4 between Kingsbury Road and Rock City Road was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated.

The Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains under investigation.
