Fatal stabbing in Pittsfield under investigation

A fatal stabbing is under investigation in Pittsfield.
Officers responded to reports of the stabbing Tuesday night near the intersection of Melville Street and First Street, the Pittsfield Police Department said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 42-year-old man with what they believe was a stab wound.
He was taken to Berkshire Medical Center, where he later died. At this time, officials do not believe this was a random act of violence and there is no immediate threat to the public.
