Barn destroyed in fire at Samascott Orchards
The fire started around 7pm and crews started to demolish the barn around 10pm. The wind was a huge setback.
It took about 3 hours for firefighters to put out the fire. Arounf 10 o’clock is when the barn was starting to get demolished.
No one was injured.
We’re told at one point, the fire became dangerous due to propane tanks exploding at the scene.
“This is a loss to the entire community,” Bartlett said.
The biggest issue firefighters dealt with was the wind. It was blowing the smoke in all directions making visibility tough. Crews were also stationed in a wooded area behind the orchard in case another fire broke out.
A definite cause is not known yet. The barn fire is being investigated.
