Fort Ann man accused of having child pornography

State Police arrested a Washington County man on Thursday for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Claude W. Pitts, 55, is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

The arrest followed a search of his Fort Ann home after police received a tip from the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children. 

Pitts was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. Both are felonies.

He was released and due in Fort Ann Town Court on March 20.
