The Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs is filled with history, ghost sightings and paranormal activity.

Since 1870, a building once known as “The Clubhouse” has sat in the center of historic Congress Park in Saratoga Springs. It was built by John Morrissey and the Saratoga Springs History Museum has called the building home since 1912.

Every summer, the museum offers ghost tours.

“Some folks have said paranormal activity occurs, I’ve worked here for 25 years and I’ve had a lot of strange things happen,” James Parillo, Executive Director of the Saratoga Springs History Musuem. “I believe in ghosts.”

Parillo said paranormal investigators say spirits or energy can be connected to objects or artifacts. In the museum, there are nearly 15,000 objects.

“All the stories that we tell on our ghost tours, one of us, a psychic, a medium, one of my volunteers, or even a visitor, are things we learned from them,” Parillo said.

The building was featured on the SYFY Networks show Ghost Hunters in 2010, and in 2019 was named number four in the top 10 of America’s Most Terrifying Places on the Travel Channel.

You can take the tours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in July and August. You can find more information and buy tickets here.
