Gillibrand slams Trump administration over Social Security cuts
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was in Albany on Friday, along with several other elected leaders. They slammed the Trump administration over White House attempts to shut down Social Security offices.
Gillibrand did not mince words, lashing out at the Trump administration and Elon Musk as the Department of Government Efficiency has the Social Security Administration in its crosshairs.
Shutting down 47 Social Security offices, including two in New York, is “an outrage, sinful, and disgraceful,” Gillibrand said.
With staffing levels already at their lowest point in half a century, there is talk of eliminating 7,000 additional Social Security employees.
The computer network has crashed several times in recent weeks, telephone wait times have skyrocketed, and panic has become daily reality for millions of elderly and disabled recipients.
