Girl Scouts of Northeastern NY 8th Annual “Girls CANDo” Event: A Success
The Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York gathered to participate in their 8th annual “Girls CANDo” event on Saturday at Empire Plaza in Albany.
Girl Scouts were involved in a STEM challenge combined with a high-impact community service project, which consisted of building structures from the canned and packaged goods they collected before the event.
The structures will remain on display through Martin Luther King Jr. weekend at the Empire Plaza.
Once structures are taken down, the goods will be donated to the Food Pantries for the Capital District.
Certificates were given out to Girl Scouts based on structures that had best structural integrity, miniature construction, most nutritious construction, use of labels, and more.
Girl Scouts also participated in a “Cookie Rally,” which taught them entrepreneurial skills ahead of the cookie season beginning on Feb. 2.
This event was sponsored by GlobalFoundries.
