Glens Falls Common Council member announces mayoral run
Glens Falls Common Council Member Diana Palmer has announced her campaign for mayor of Glens Falls.
Palmer, a Democrat, has been on the city’s Common Council for the past seven years.
She said in a statement that:
“My goal is to make Glens Falls the best possible place to live, work, and enjoy life. When people visit, I want them to feel what we already know: that this is a special place. I want them to be inspired to move here, start their businesses here, and help our community thrive in a way that benefits both those who are here and those who want to join us in building something even greater.”
Current Mayor Bill Collins has already announced his plans to run for re-election.
Collins released this statement:
“I welcome Council Member Palmer to the race for mayor. Democracy works best when the voters have a choice. And they will have a very clear choice here. I am the first mayor in 22 years to have delivered a city budget with a zero tax increase.
Council Member Palmer voted against the budget. She was the only member of the Common Council to do so. She favored taking more money from our city taxpayers than was necessary to run city government.
“I look forward to sharing my vision and plans to continue moving Glens Falls forward in the coming years.”
