GOP Assembly candidate declines comment on video controversy

GOP Assembly candidate won’t discuss accusations

GOP Assembly candidate Joe Mastrioanni won't discuss accusations that he stole mail.

Republican Assembly candidate Joe Mastroianni said he would be available on Thursday to talk about a recent controversy video appearing to show him stealing a political mailer from a mailbox in Scotia.

NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy reached out to him multiple times, but he never returned his calls.

Scotia Police are investigating this video.

“My campaign has knocked on thousands of doors and prior to this complaint, there has not been a single allegation against myself or any of my team for any incidences whatsoever,” Mastroianni said on Wednesday.

The Schenectady County Democratic committee chairman is calling on Mastroianni to suspend his campaign and resign from the Rotterdam Town Board.
