Governor Hochul endorses Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy for re-election
Governor Kathy Hochul is endorsing Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy for re-election in his Democratic primary on Tuesday, June 27.
“Mayor Gary McCarthy is an experienced public servant who knows how to deliver for his city,” Hochul said. “He is a true partner in the fight for progress, as he understands the importance of our shared responsibility to invest in improving infrastructure and revitalizing neighborhoods throughout our communities. I am proud to endorse him in his re-election campaign. Under his continued leadership, I know Schenectady’s best days still lie ahead,” Hochul said.
McCarthy is vying for a fourth term and is being challenged by city councilmember Marion Porterfield.
“Governor Hochul has been unwavering in her support of Schenectady. From new good paying wind turbine jobs at GE, to quality affordable housing in our neighborhoods, to renovating the historic Wedgeway building, to picking Schenectady native Antonio Delgado as Lt. Governor, she has consistently supported our revitalization efforts,” McCarthy said. “I thank her for her endorsement and look forward to our continued partnership in building a strong and vibrant future for the City of Schenectady.”
