Governor Hochul requests federal emergency declaration

A federal emergency declaration request has been made by New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

This is for the 15 counties that were affected by severe storms last week.

The emergency declaration would help recovery operations in the counties that were hit the hardest, including Montgomery, Saratoga, and Warren Counties.

There were a record 17 tornadoes confirmed in New York during the storms, one of them in Edinburg.

The funding would come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
