A Greenfield man who police said threatened to shoot at law enforcement has been charged with several counts of possessing assault weapons and large capacity ammunition-feeding devices.
Joseph J. Samascott, 48, is accused of calling police on March 24 and making threats to harm himself and engaging in a shoot-out with law enforcement, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said. He was later taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Authorities say Samascott was charged with the following:
- Eight counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- One count of third-degree criminal mischief
He was also accused of intentionally damaging property exceeding $250 belonging to someone else, said the Sheriff’s Office.
Police say Samascott was arraigned in the Milton Town Court and sent to the Saratoga County Jail.
