Homicide investigation underway in Schenectady

1 man is dead following a shooting on Hamburg Street.

A deadly shooting investigation is now underway in Schenectady.

Schenectady Police said a death inside 1834 Hamburg Street is being investigated as a homicide.

Mayor Gary McCarthy, was also on scene.

Police received a call around 12:50 Thursday about a person with a weapon, they told NewsChannel 13.

They found a man inside the home who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had cordoned off the area with yellow crime scene tape, redirecting traffic and establishing a crime scene perimeter from Abbotsford Road to 21st Street.

The public is advised to stay clear of the area.

No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
