One person arrested after police presence in Troy
One person has been arrested after a large police presence in Troy. The individual arrested is being faced with charges relating to unlawfully operating a vehicle.
Officers responded to a report of a man with a handgun in the area of 4th Street between Ida Street and Jefferson Street just before 3 p.m., Troy Police said.
Multimedia Journalist Zach Richter reported that around eight to 10 police officers stood in front of a home on 4th Street just after 4 p.m. Friday.
One officer was seen looking into a truck that appeared to have crashed. Its front end was damaged, and its windshield cracked and shattered and had airbags deployed inside.
Donald Stebbins lives on 4th Street and he said he saw the incident unfold. He said it was a robbery turned car chase that led to the crash.
“He slammed on his breaks. Tried to make a turn, couldn’t make the turn, hit the telephone poll. He got out to run but he turned to grab something out of the front seat and then when down the alley the opposite way,” said Stebbins.
Stebbins said one person from the vehicle ran through the back of a residence on 4th street. Troy Police said they found a loaded handgun near that home.
Late Friday Troy Police releasing in a statement to NewsChannel 13 that there is still a person unaccounted for from this incident who is believed to be in involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
