Heavy rain moving through Capital Region
A few leftover flurries will linger into the late afternoon hours, otherwise partly sunny with temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s through sunset. Mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the 20s.
The next disturbance will head our way on Saturday with increasing clouds. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 30s. Scattered rain and snow showers will move in during the afternoon. As temperatures fall back below freezing overnight, precipitation will end as mostly light snow with a coating up to an inch in most places.
A deep trough of low pressure will bring increasing clouds on Sunday with a storm developing just off the East Coast. The storm track is not certain yet, but several inches of snow will be possible in the Greater Capital District and points south and east late Sunday afternoon into the night. Lighter accumulations will be more likely to the north and west. If the storm tracks a bit more offshore, snowfall amounts will be lighter. Either way, the snow will wind down around sunrise on Monday.
Arctic air then charges back into the Capital Region for the beginning of next week, bringing the coldest air of the season so far with highs in the teens and lows close to zero Monday through Wednesday.
Have a great weekend!
