Gov. Hochul signed the “30×30” conservation goal into law on Friday.
The law provides that the state will preserve 30% of its land, ocean and water by 2030.
It is consistent with President Biden’s conservation goal for the entire country.
Assemblymember Patricia Fahy called the legislation “a tremendous gift to the environment” and thanked the governor and environmental advocates of the legislation for continuing New York’s legacy of protecting public lands for future generations.
