Hochul’s historic chief of staff paving the way for others
Stacy Lynch made history in 2022 when she was appointed Gov. Kathy Hochul’s chief of staff. She’s the first woman of color to hold the position.
Lynch was exposed to politics from her father, Bill Lynch. He was a longtime Democratic strategist that worked for New York City Mayor David Dinkins and Hillary Clinton on her Senate bid.
After working as an entertainment lawyer, her father’s death in 2013 led her to a career change. She worked with young people in New York City and then was chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin. When he resigned in 2022 amid a corruption scandal, Hochul brought her over to her staff.
Learn how Lynch feels about her historic role and what her day is like, by watching video of Subrina Dhammi’s story.
