Home explodes in Dutchess County; At least 15 people hurt
A fire and explosion at a home in Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, sent more than a dozen victims to area hospitals. That’s about 90 minutes south of Albany.
According to early reports, a contractor struck a 3/4 inch pipeline shortly after noon, setting off the fire and explosion.
At least 15 people were injured in the explosion, including police and firefighters, according to officials at the scene.
Some of the victims are listed in critical condition.
Electricity and gas have been cut off to surrounding homes.
