Homeless man set to get 7 years in prison for 2020 burglary
A 54-year-old man is expected to be sentenced to 7 years in prison for a 2020 burglary.
Richard Agley, who is homeless, admitted in court on Tuesday to breaking into a home in Delmar on June 17, 2020 and stealing shoes and a credit card. He also attempted to burglarize a second home and a vehicle in the area in the same day, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
Agley failed to appear in court for over two years before this resolution. Before the state bail reform, second-degree burglary was not a bail-eligible offense.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 18, 2024. He faces 5 years of post-release supervision after the prison term.
