A U.S. House panel on the COVID-19 pandemic is recommending that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo be criminally charged.
The Republican-led panel has referred Cuomo to the U.S. Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution. The House subcommittee alleges that Cuomo made false statements during closed-door testimony this past June.
Specifically, they are accusing Cuomo of lying to Congress about his involvement in a report by the New York State Department of Health about nursing home COVID infections and deaths.
In a statement, Cuomo’s spokesperson called the subcommittee’s actions “a taxpayer-funded farce.”
