Human remains found in wooded area in Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs Police are investigating human remains that were found in a vacant wooded lot on Saturday.
Police received a call at about 10:52 a.m. from a citizen reporting finding possible human remains in the area of South Broadway and Adelphi Street. Patrol officers responded and located human remains that were in an advanced state of decomposition, police said.
The department’s Investigations Division was notified and responded to the scene, along with the New York State Forensic Investigations Unit.
Police are not able to make a positive identification at this time due to the state of the remains. It does not appear to be suspicious and there is no threat to the public, police said.
The remains will be secured and taken for forensic analysis to identify the individual.
Police said the location where they were found is known to be frequented by the transient population and therefore, the person may not be from this area.
