Hundreds race in Saratoga Springs to kick off 2023

People from all over the Capital Region started the new year off in a healthy way – with a race.
The First Day 5k took place Sunday in Saratoga Springs.
People started out on the north side of Broadway and finished the 3.1 mile run on Maple Avenue.
With the mild weather and resolutions on everyone’s mind, the streets of Saratoga were packed with runners and walkers.
“I think a lot of people set wellness goals for the new year – around running walking, steps they might want to take. This is a great way to kick that off,” said Todd Shimkus with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.

While organizers expected about 250 people, they ended up with more than 600 signed up before registration closed.
