Indian Ladder Farms sustained kitchen fire Saturday night, no visible damage to building
We have learned that there was a sustained kitchen fire late Saturday night at Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont.
The fire happened in the kitchen in the farm store, leaving the kitchen inoperable for the time being.
The media spokesperson for the farm, Leanne Ricchiuti, tells us that there is no visible damage to the exterior of the building. However, doughnut production at the farm will be paused until repairs are completed in the kitchen.
Additionally, she noted that the Farm Store will be temporarily closed while the smoke damage is being remediated.
It was mentioned that no injuries were reported from this incident, and their Apple Room, Apple Barn, Pizza Garden, Biergarten and Tasting Room, and pick-your-own services remain open with normal hours of operation.
The manager at Indian Ladder Farms, Laura Ten Eyck, released this statement regarding the kitchen fire:
“While we are disappointed by the interruption to our kitchen services, we are grateful that the
damage was limited and didn’t cause damage to our historic buildings, but most importantly, that
no one was harmed, We’re working hard to get everything back up and running as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding during this time and look forward to welcoming you back to the Farm Store soon. We appreciate the support and patience of our community during this time.”
The Ten Eyck family says they extend their gratitude to first responders and the community for their
continued support.
