Interim HVCC leader seeks to reassure community during transition

Hudson Valley Community College is immediately beginning a search for a new president after it fired Roger Ramsammy on Tuesday.

The Board of Trustees has appointed Louis Coplin officer in charge during the interim.

Coplin released a statement to the community as the college goes through the transition.

“Our primary focus remains steadfast: to provide exceptional educational and career opportunities to our students and the broader campus community. As we navigate this transition, we are committed to moving forward collaboratively, with a clear vision and shared purpose.

We will immediately begin a search for a college president which will involve a partnership among all of our stakeholders and shared governance leaders, ensuring transparency and collaborative action.

Ongoing projects that aim to enhance our educational offerings and campus facilities will proceed as planned. These initiatives are designed to amplify our college’s mission and provide our students with the resources they need to succeed. Right now, we are expanding at our Malta campus, in the South End of Albany and with new programs at the Albany International Airport. We also have big plans for a new workforce training center here in Troy. Our enrollment continues to climb, and we are proud to serve more students than any other upstate New York community college.

We are confident that with the collective efforts of our dedicated community, we will navigate this period of transition with resilience and determination. Our commitment to our students and their success is stronger than ever. Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for Hudson Valley Community College.”
