No charges will be filed in a Greenfield shooting, where a man shot and killed his 74-year-old wife.

Joseph Cuva Sr. had said he was cleaning and reloading his gun at the time.

It happened in their home in March. The gun discharged, went through a wall and struck his wife, who was sitting in the living room, investigators said.

No one else was home.

“After an investigation was conducted, which included interviews as well as forensic testing including a reconstruction of the events, it was determined that no criminal conduct occurred by the homeowner. The death was determined and is listed on the death certificate as accidental,” Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said.
