Investigators say they believe they have found the body of Meghan Marohn.
They say a civilian found the remains Thursday evening, in a heavily-wooded area near Fox Drive in Lee.
They say evidence collected so far indicates a high likelihood it’s Marohn, and a medical examiner’s autopsy will confirm it.
The 42-year-old Shaker High teacher was reported missing on March 29.
Although speculative – and not confirmed by police – a Pulitzer Prize winning author Chris Hedges, who befriended Marohn about a decade ago, sheds some light on what may have happened.
He wrote that she told friends a few days before she disappeared that “she had gone into hiding to escape from a man who has brutally harassed and intimidated me, because I wouldn’t sleep with him.”
The area where the body was found was an active police scene all-day on Friday.
Lee Police and Massachusetts State Police have been combing through the woods, hoping to find evidence that will help them piece together the mystery of Marohn’s tragic death.
