Judge rules civil cases against 2023 driveway shooter, wife, insurance company can be combined

A judge has decided that the civil cases against convicted driveway shooter Kevin Monahan, his wife, Jinx, and their insurance company can be combined.

A judge has ruled that the suit brought by the family of Kaylin Gillis who was shot and killed by Monahan in 2023, and Gillis’s boyfriend, Blake Walsh, can be joined into one trial.

Walsh was driving the car that mistakenly turned around in Monahan’s Hebron driveway. The Monahans’ homeowners’ insurance company, Preferred Mutual, based in Chenago County, has argued that it has no duty to defend the Monahans because Kevin’s actions were not accidental. It has not yet been decided which county court will hear these cases.
