Jury selection begins in murder suspect’s retrial in Pittsfield

Jury selection begins for the retrial of Lance Berke, who is accused of shooting a person as they sat in a pickup truck.

Jury selection has begun in the retrial of a Bronx man accused of killing a Pittsfield resident back in 2018.

Lance Burke is accused of shooting and killing David Green Jr. as he sat in a pickup truck on Willow Street. The first trial in 2023 ended in a hung jury.

Our media partners at The Berkshire Eagle said that opening statements are expected to begin Wednesday after trial selection is completed.

Burke is facing a charge of first-degree premediated murder.

Burke allegedly fled to New York after the shooting, but he stopped at a Henry Avenue address to pick up a duffel bag on the way out of town, the paper reported. The resident of that address has not been charged, but prosecutors say is connected to the homicide.
