Kelly’s Angels awards $36K in scholarships to local high school graduates
Kelly’s Angels has awarded $36,000 in scholarships to 25 local high school graduates who have overcome significant adversity and shown a commitment to helping others.
The awards are honored in reflection of the Capital Region charity’s mission, which is helping local families whose lives have changed by loss of a family member battling a life-threatening condition.
In addition, a graduate was awarded a $5,000 scholarship in collaboration with Kelly’s Angels and Nemer Auto Group.
Kelly’s Angels Founder and President and NewsChannel 13 anchor, Mark Mulholland, says “these 25 young people remind us why our future is so bright. All of them have overcome adversity and are committed to helping others.”
The charity has given out $162,000 in college scholarships since 2016, as their scholarship program has grown.
The Mulholland family formed Kelly’s Angels to honor Mark’s wife, Kelly, who died in 2007 at age 37 after a long struggle with breast cancer, leaving Mark and their two children, Connor and McKenna. Now in its 14th year, the charity is committed to helping children and families suffering through similar tragedies.
Last year, Kelly’s Angels presented more than $100,000 in grants to local families and children, all possible through generosity of its donors and supporters.
