Labor leaders, officials stand with Ellis Medicine nurses seeking fair contract
Elected leaders, labor unions and community organizations are asking Ellis Medicine to settle a fair contract with nurses.
Nurses at Ellis Hospital and Bellevue Women’s Center voted last week to authorize a strike.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to the New York State Nurses Association on Tuesday to see if an official strike notice had been given. We have not heard back yet.
The association on Tuesday delivered a letter of support, which said in part.
“We urge you to agree with the nurses at Ellis and Bellevue and their just demands to negotiate a fair contract. We see fulfilling these demands as a pathway to protecting the health and safety of our community. If no settlement is reached – we stand in full solidarity with our nurses and will see you on the picket line,” the statement said.
