Latham farm equipment supplier braces for Trump administration tariffs
A farming equipment supplier in Latham is gearing up for a new wave of tariffs to take effect.
President Donald Trump and the White House have announced a series of sweeping tariffs, many that will take effect on April 2.
The newest tariff will hit all imported vehicles and foreign-made auto parts.
On top of that will be another 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico and Canada, as well as a 10% tariff on imports from China.
About 90% to 95% of the equipment at Monroe Tractor in Latham comes from other countries, including China, according to Monroe Tractor.
Right now, they’re unsure exactly how much the tariffs will impact their prices.
The good news for Monroe Tractor customers, any of the equipment in the yard will not be affected by the tariffs, because it is already on U.S. soil.
Anything that must be shipped in after the tariffs take effect could be impacted.
