Latham man indicted for allegedly injuring 2-month-old kitten

A Latham man has been indicted for allegedly injuring a kitten back in April.

Preston Wido, 36, allegedly caused substantial injuries to a 2-month-old kitten named “Kit” in Lansingburgh.

The cat had a concussion, dislocated jaw, fractured pelvis and part of the right ear was caught with a sharp object.

Wido was charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

He was also indicted on other charges unrelated to the kitten case including first-degree rape, strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief and robbery.

When contacted for comment, the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office said they were not providing any details at this point on the other charges.

Wido pleaded not guilty to all counts in Rensselaer County Court on Friday and was sent to Rensselaer County Jail on $75,000 bail.

Assistant District Attorney Cassidy Milam is prosecuting the case.
