The 300-gallon oil tank behind Paesan’s Pizza has been robbed several times, as thieves would break the lock and steal the valuable used cooking oil inside.

Thieves use the oil to be recycled, and processed into biodiesel, an extremely valuable commodity.
Several months ago, owner Frank Scavio invested $10,000 in a pilferage-proof tank.

When thieves showed up around 4:30 Monday morning, they weren’t able to get inside.

Meanwhile, the thieves stole the oil from a neighboring Ted’s Fish Fry, which doesn’t have the device. Scavio is hopeful police or someone else might be able to recognize the lettering on the side of the truck.

He also noticed something perhaps ingenious on the video that might make it more difficult to identify the culprits.
