Latham woman gets 15 years in prison for taking explicit pictures of child
A Latham woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday for taking sexually explicit pictures of a child.
Kristy Koldis, 46, had pleaded guilty in June to sexual exploitation of a child. She admitted in federal court that she took and sent the pictures over a four-year period beginning when the child was nine and ending when they were 13.
Koldis was working as a school guidance counselor. She started at Albany High School in 2003 and worked at Myers Middle School in 2018.
The pictures were not related to her work at the school.
She also faces 15 years of post-release supervision a fine of $55,000 and restitution of $5,000.
Koldis distributed the pictures to her boyfriend, Joshua White, who pleaded guilty in December.
White, who was involved in local youth sports, is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12, 2024.
