Troopers push for mandated leave after officer-involved shootings.
Law enforcement groups gathered at the state Capitol on Wednesday to push for paid leave for troopers involved in critical incidents.
This comes as the Saratoga County has had three officer-involved shootings – mostly recently on Wednesday in South Glens Falls.
The New York State Troopers PBA, the Police Benevolent Association, is seeking legislation to provide leave to help troopers cope with extreme stress and trauma caused by these dangerous encounters.
PBA President Charles Murphy said current policy does not give troopers time to process the extreme stress and anxiety these situations can cause.
