Lee Kindlon is officially running for Albany County District Attorney.

Kindlon says he will run regardless of whether he receives the endorsement of the Albany County Democratic Committee.

This comes as current Albany County District Attorney David Soares is under investigation, after giving himself a $22,000 bonus from a state grant.

He appeared before county legislators last week.

Soares says he will give the money back, but he did not get his own party’s endorsement.

Assemblyman Phil Steck is also in the race.

 
He was one of the first Capital Region representatives to call for Soares to resign.
