Public schools must accept school-aged children as students, regardless of their nationality or immigration status. That’s according to new guidance released Monday from State Attorney General Letitia James.
It reaffirms New Yorkers’ right to receive free public school education – as the state sees an influx of migrants.
The guidance also states schools should not impose residency requirements that would make it difficult for children to register for school.
