Local pastor says violence needs to stop

Pastor Charlie Muller says there has been so much violence outside of his church on Quail Street and it has just been getting worse.

Charlie Muller is a pastor at Victory Church at 118 Quail Street in Albany. He said the violence outside his church keeps getting worse.

“It’s totally out of control. And we’ve been in the city long enough to see the result of some of the laws that are being passed,” Pastor Charlie said.

Over the past few months there have been shootings, stabbings, and robberies outside the church and Pastor Charlie said some of which were caught on video.

Charlie told NewsChannel 13 that he wants to see more cameras in the area and warning signs about surveillance.

He said that violence in Albany is centered around hotspots such as Quail Street and Madison Avenue Park but as of late it has expanded throughout the city. There have now been five different shootings in the past week across Albany.

“Nobody has a solution, and nobody’s really coming up with anything because it’s the same cycle and it’s getting worse,” said Charlie.

The pastor said that he has noticed fewer people come to his church on Quail Street in recent months and he believes it is because of the violence.
