Malta man arrested for failure to notify change of address as sex offender

Jacob L. Merchant, 25, of Malta was arrested by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office for failing to report a change of address within 10 days as a sex offender.
The charge was upgraded to a class D felony due to a previous conviction in 2023.
The Sheriff’s Office says Merchant was arraigned in Malta Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail without bail pending further action in the matter.
