NewsChannel 13 is following up on a violent encounter out of Troy.

The police department is under fire and people living there want answers after a street fight.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Thursday morning when a major fight broke out on 8th Street.

This led to altercations with police becoming violent. Security cameras captured on video the moment a Troy Police officer appears to punch David Gonzalez.

“He just came up and shoved me. I almost lost my balance. I caught my balance and stumbled forward. He shoved me harder and then I fell back. And I went to reach like that for anything to grab on to. So I didn’t fall and hit my head. And then he punched me so hard that I flew and hit my head,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez just returned from the hospital after being treated for his injuries. He told NewsChannel 13 that he does not plan on taking legal action as he just wants to focus on recovering.

No one has been charged yet in the incident.
