Apparently no one saw it coming.

It was two in the morning. Music was playing. People were partying and all of a sudden, what began a push turned to shove, turned into a skirmish and then a pummeling outside the pub.

“The only thing I could think to do was just try to yell at them,” said one of the witnesses. “I wasn’t going to try to intervene with two very large men who were attacking somebody.”

In just a matter of moments, the asphalt assault spilled over from the sidewalk onto South Pearl Street, near the corner of New Scotland Avenue.

“Some neighbors had come out and once people started to congregate a little bit, finally they let up,” a witness stated. “The gentleman had either been beaten so bad that he passed out or he was on the verge of it.”

Several 911 calls were made. an ambulance arrived shortly there after.

“To the best of my knowledge, I haven’t seen them around at all,” the witness said. “The rumor has been that they had some sort of family history and they just ran into each other.”

In the city’s Pine Hills neighborhood, people say incidents like this are an aberration.

“I think everyone was just kind of dumbfounded by what had happened,” the witnessed explained. “It wasn’t preceded by an argument or a fight. It just happened so fast and then it was over in a blink of the eye.”

Police have stopped by the pub to look at the video. They were still searching for suspects.
