A man was killed after someone hit him in the head with an object, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened Friday evening near the Malta Gardens mobile home park and apartments near Knabner Road, just off of State Route 9 in the Town of Malta.

The man was killed during a fight between several people, according to Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo. Things escalated when one of the people involved hit another in the head with something strong enough to cause major damage.

A witness told NewsChannel 13 the body of the victim who was hit could be seen lying in the open on the ground for some time after the fight.

Law enforcement taped off the block to keep bystanders back, and to preserve the crime scene investigation. Much of the area is residential and private property.

At the time of the writing of this story, the name of the person who died had not been released. Zurlo said several people were being interviewed about their involvement, and there was no danger to the public.

Law enforcement have not confirmed if anyone has been arrested.
