Man killed in Knox crash after Albany police chase

A man is dead after a crash in Albany County.

It started early Wednesday morning when troopers saw a car driving erratically on Washington Avenue Extension in Albany, they said.

It matched the description of a car involved in an earlier chase, and they tried to pull over the driver, Jason Benn. However, Benn took off, leading them on a chase.

Several vehicles were hit during the chase, and troopers called it off.

They found Benn and his car crashed on Gallupville Road in Knox a short time later. Benn later died at Albany Medical Center.

Benn didn’t have permission to drive the car, police said. Police also said Benn had narcotics on him.
They continue to investigate.
