The man on parole after serving time for a crash that killed two teenagers will remain behind bars after his recent arrest.

Dennis Drue was arrested on March 19 after Colonie Police said he provided a false name when he was questioned while in Crossings after hours. Drue was charged with false personation and ordered to report to his parole officer.

Drue had previously been warned about violating the conditions of his parole after he was out past curfew last Nov. 4, according to court documents.

His attorney had filed a motion on March 26 seeking that Drue be free pending a full hearing on whether his parole should be revoked.

Schenectady Supreme Court Judge Paul Davenport ruled on Monday that the Schenectady County Court did not abuse its discretion when he ordered Drue held pending the hearing.

“County Court heard arguments from both sides and considered all relevant evidence that is proscribed by law. At the conclusion of the hearing, County Court made a finding that petitioner currently presents a substantial risk of willfully failing to appear based upon the record before the court,” Davenport wrote.

Davenport dismissed the petition.

Drue served 9 years in prison for a December 2012 crash. He was driving recklessly and under the influence of drugs and alcohol, when he slammed into the back of an SUV on the Northway. He killed Shenendehowa High School students Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers and injured two other people.

Drue is due back in Colonie Town Court on April 21 at 5 p.m. A parole violation hearing is scheduled for May.
