Man pleads guilty in fatal Albany shooting
A man has admitted to his role in a fatal Albany shooting back in June.
Daquan Arrington, 24, pleaded guilty in Albany County Court on Tuesday to first-degree manslaughter for causing the death of Javon Ward. The shooting happened on June 5 around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Second and Quail streets. Ward was shot in the back and pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.
A 46-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 13-year-old was grazed in the arm.
Arrington is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 27. He faces 25 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.
Arrington also pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a different shots fired incident on May 26, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Sentencing in that case is set for Jan. 17.
