Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in fatal Albany shooting

A man has admitted to his role in a shooting that killed a man in Albany in the city’s first homicide of 2024.

John Stanfield, 43, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of Ozzie Gardner. He was shot in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2024 near second Street and Judson Street.

Stanfield is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 28 to 35 years in state prison.
