With the park’s reopening come several security changes. There will be increased Park Police and New York State Police patrols, along with more security cameras being installed. In addition, more Park Rangers will be around to ensure peace of mind for visitors and campers ahead of the Columbus Day weekend.
“State Parks are a source of relaxation and recreation for so many people, and we are committed to ensuring that sense of tranquility and trust for our patrons,” said State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid in a news release.
In addition, the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will conduct a thorough review of the kidnapping incident.
NewsChannel 13 will no longer identify the victim or use any of her pictures in future stories out of respect for the victim’s family and their request for privacy.
